Article Abstract:
A molecular method is developed based on PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) ribosomal DNA sequences in order identify fungal species, with members of the genus Pleurotus as an example. A large number of ITS sequences from this genus are accumulated and a molecular identification method using the PCR-RFLP method is developed for distinguishing Pleurotus species through the DNA sequence analyses.

Article Abstract:
The role of Tvbgn3, a [beta]-1,6-glucanase from Trichoderma virens, is examined by comparison of wild-type (WT) and transformant strains in which Tvbgn3 is disrupted (GKO) or constitutively overexpressed (GOE). The results have shown the involvement of [beta]-1,6-glucanase in mycoparasitism and its relevance in the biocontrol activity of Trichoderma virens.

Article Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to monitor and characterize the fungal composition of ancient permafrost. It was revealed that ancient fungal communities included a diversity of cold-adapted yeasts, dark-pigmented fungi, plant-parasitic fungi, and lichen mycobionts.
