Associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms in candidate genes and growth rate in Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus L.)

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Arctic charr. The authors report the study of the associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms in candidate genes and growth hormone axis and age-specific growth rate of Arctic charr, and they demonstate the existence of association between the allele at growth hormone-releasing hormone and putuitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide gene marker and juvenile growth.

Genetic recombination and adaptation to fluctuating environments: selection for geotaxis in Drosophila melanogaster

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on adaptive evolution. The authors have investigated different types of Drosophila melanogaster lines varying in their level of genetic recombination, and the results demonstrate that recombination has not accelerated adaptation during fluctuating or directional selection for geotaxis.

The FMR1 CGG repeat and linked microsatellite markers in two Basque valleys

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on CGG repeats in the FMR1 gene and their flanking haplotypes. The study of these repeats has demonstrated that allele differences are present both in different populations and between groups within a population.
