Article Abstract:
The titrated levels of the selenoprotein mRNA under diverse growth conditions increase the yield of the over produced recombinant selenoprotein. The analysis illustrates the ability of Escherichia coli to upregulate the selenocysteine incorporation machinery on demand and shows that it can be used as cell factories for highly efficient production of heterologous selenoproteins such as rat thioredoxin reductase.

Article Abstract:
Transformation of Nicotiana tabacum leaf explants was attempted with Escherichia coli as a DNA donor either alone or in combination with Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Escherichia coli donor strains were constructed harboring either the promiscuous IncP-type or the IncN-type conjugal transfer system and second plasmids containing the respective origins of transfer and plant-selectable markers.

Article Abstract:
An ultrasensitive bioassay system for the detection of N-acylhomoserine lactones (AHLs) was constructed in Agrobacterium tumefaciens by using the T7 expression system to overproduce the AHL receptor TraR. This strain detected many diverse AHLs, some at extremely low concentrations.
