Research has been conducted on the fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. strains that produce 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol in the rhizosphere. The isolation of these strains from wheat rhizosphere has been carried out.

Article Abstract:
A simple and rapid method was developed to determine the presence and genotypic diversity of 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol (DAPG)-producing Pseudomonas strains in rhizosphere samples. The results demonstrated that denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis of the phlD gene allows identification of new genotypic groups of specific antibiotic-producing Pseudomonas with different abilities to colonize the rhizosphere of sugar of sugar beet seedlings.

Article Abstract:
The gene encoding the antibiotic, 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol (PHL) is conserved in all the 45 fluorescent Pseudomonas strains that produce PHL. However, the strains show significant phenotypic and genotypic variation and originate from different geographical regions. There are two phenotypic groups. One group produces PHL, hydrogen cyanide (HCN) and pyoluteorin (PLT) while the other produces PHL and HCN. The strains that produce both PHL and PTL show genetic similarity while those that produce only PHL are genetically dissimilar.
