Application of a newly developed ARB software-integrated tool for in silico terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis reveals the dominance of a novel pmoA cluster in a forest soil

Article Abstract:

An ARB-implemented tool, TRF-CUT, is developed to predict in silico the terminal restriction fragments of aligned small-subunit rRNA gene or functional gene sequences. This new tool is used to perform directed terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of pmoA products obtained from a forest soil and it has revealed that a novel cluster I methanotrophic bacteria is dominant.

A marine Mesorhizobium sp. produces structurally novel long-chain N-acyl-L-homoserine lactones

Article Abstract:

The analysis focuses on a Mesorhizobium sp. that is highly affected by 16S rRNA gene sequence and produces structurally novel long-chain N-acyl-L-homoserine lactones. The quorum-sensing activities of these lactones are easily modulated by the chain length and the functional groups of the acyl moiety.

Identification of internal transcribed spacer sequence motifs in truffles: A first step toward their DNA bar coding

Article Abstract:

DNA sequence motifs from the internal transcribed spacer of the nuclear rRNA repeat unit is presented. This work provides a reliable new tool for a truffle oligonucleotide bar code and identification in ecological and evolutionary studies.
