Article Abstract:
The reorganization of microtubule arrays during the establishment of cell polarity in developing retinal pigment epithelium was studied in vivo using an analysis of gamma-tubulin distribution. Results revealed that by embryonic day 3, gamma-tubulin was concentrated in a discrete location under the apical membrane. It was also found that in primary cell cultures, the formation of junctional complexes did not suffice to position the focus of gamma-tubulin near the apical membrane, which remained in the juxtanuclear region. It was suggested that cell-cell and cell-basement membrane interactions are not enough for the rearrangement of epithelial microtubule arrays.

Article Abstract:
The synthesis of the insect brain neuropeptide, prothoracicotropic hormone (PTTH), generation of secretory granule and secretion in the Bombyx mori brain occur continuously and concurrently. Immunogold electron microscopy and computerized image analysis are utilized for identifying changes in the subcellular distribution of PTTH during the fifth larval instar and larval-pupal metamorphosis of Bombyx. The hemolymph PTTH titer is measured by a time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay. The formation and secretion of PTTH occur during the entire fifth larval instar.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to identify and determine the behavior in vivo and in vitro of the p50 beta tubulin. Stimulation of the prothoracicotropic hormone promoted the secretion of ecdysteroid hormones during instar development. The amount of beta tubulin rose dramatically from the third day to the 10th day and also began production in the prothoracic gland 5-10 minutes after the onset of the first stimulation. Beta tubulin levels changed significantly in the fifth star larvae in parallel with the ecdysteroid levels.
