Antiterminator protein GlpP of Bacillus subtilis binds to glpD leader mRNA

Article Abstract:

Interaction between GlpP and glpD leader mRNA in vivo and in vitro in Bacillus subtilis was investigated. In vivo, the antiterminating effect of GlpP can be titrated in a strain harboring the glpD leader on a plasmid. GlpP was purified and gel shift experiments indicated that it binds with glpD leader mRNA in vitro. GlpP is not similar to other known antiterminator proteins, but database searches indicated an Escherichia coli open reading frame which has a high degree of similarity to GlpP.

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the new genus within Chlamydiales, Parachlamydiaceae. The hypothesis that the tlc gene encoding ADP/ATP-translocase is present in Parachlamydiaceae acanthamoebae genome has been tested, and the phylogenetic and genetic relationships of nonmitochondrial ADP/ATP-translocase coding sequences have been investigated from the evolutionary perspective.

The aprE leader is a determinant of extreme mRNA stability in Bacillus subtilis

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Bacillus subtilis aprE gene which encodes enzyme subtilisin. The authors study aprE mRNA stability and aprE leader-lacZ fusion mRNA, and report that both mRNA are stable and that aprE leader contains a determinant for extreme mRNA stability.
