Antagonism between Cry1Ac1 and Cyt1A1 toxins of Bacillus thuringiensis

Article Abstract:

The first evidence of clear antagonism between toxins from different subspecies of Bacillus thuringiensis, detected both in vivo and in vitro, is reported. These two quite different B thuringiensis toxins are Cry1Ac1, which has a high activity toward members of the Lepidoptera, and Cyt1A1, which came from a mosquitocidal strain but has a broad activity range because of its cytolytic capacity. Data from other joint-action analyses affirm these results.

Trehalose induces antagonism towards Pythium debaryanum in Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 17400

Article Abstract:

The role of trehalose in osmotolerance in Pseudomonas fluorescens and its significance in initiating fungal antagonism is investigated. The phytopathogen Pythium debaryanum releases a factor that induces the trehalase gene. Mutation in this gene reduces the osmotolerance of P. fluorescens drastically. Other mutation studies conducted on P. fluorescens reveal the other functions and the regulation of this gene.

Insecticidal Bacillus thuringiensis silences Erwinia carotovora virulence by a new form of microbial antagonism, signal interference

Article Abstract:

The Bacillus thuringiensis was studied to know more about this phenomenon. It was found that Bacillus thuringiensis suppressed the quorum-sensing-dependent virulence of plant pathogen Erwinia carotovora through a form of signal interference and microbial antagonism.
