Analysis of the beta-1,3-glucanolytic system of the biocontrol agent Trichoderma harzianum

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to investigate the different components of the complex beta-1,3-glucanolytic system of the biocontrol agent Trichoderma harzianum and the influence of culture conditions on enzyme expression. Partial purification and characterization of the most abundant beta-1,3-glucanase generated under simulated mycoparasitism were also performed. Results indicate that the enzymes may play significant roles in host cell wall lysis during mycoparasitism.

An antifungal exo-alpha-1,3-glucanase (AGN13.1) from the biocontrol fungus Trichoderma harzianum

Article Abstract:

Researchers describe an alpha-1,3-glucanase from the fungus Trichoderma harzianum that is expressed when the fungus grows on polysaccharides, fungal cell walls, or mycelium. This fungus can be used to control phytopathogenic fungi because beta-1,3-glucan is one of the major components of the fungal cell wall.

Peptide synthase gene in Trichoderma virens

Article Abstract:

Researchers have discovered a peptide synthetase in Trichoderma virens that is involved in the production of the siderophore dimerum acid. Disrupting the gene in this biological control agent does not inhibit the biocontrol of damping-off diseases caused by a number of fungi.
