Article Abstract:
Research indicates that plant bacterial colonies found on chrysanthemum rhizospheres group together irrespective of their location along the root system. Testing involved comparisons of root tip and root base samples, with bacterial profiles obtained by culture-independent methods and ribosomal RNA analysis; bacterial genera included Pseudomonas, Variovorax, Comamonas and Bacillus.

Article Abstract:
Chitinolytic bacteria from the beta-subclass Proteobacteria can break down fungal hyphae and grow in a nutrient-limited environment. However, chitinase inhibitors do not completely suppress this process, indicating that chitinase activity alone is not sufficient to support bacterial proliferation in the presence of living fungal hyphae.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze root effects associated with the total and culturable bacterial community in soil. Six-week-old chrysanthemum plants were utilized to obtain root tip and root base samples while polymerase chain reaction amplifications were carried out with universal primers. Results indicated that bacterial populations at the root base may contribute to a low degree of variation between plants of one harvest.
