Analysis of 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer regions of Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio mimicus

Article Abstract:

The nucleotide sequences of 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer regions of Vibrio mimicus and Vibrio cholerae are analyzed from a molecular perspective. To this end, the 16S-23S intergenic spacer regions are amplified using primers that target conserved sequences bordering the 3' end of the 16S and the 5' end of the 23S rDNA. Experimental results provide the first molecular basis for identifying the species of Vibrio cholerae.

Identification of essential operons with a Rhamnose-inducible promoter in Burkholderia cenocepacia

Article Abstract:

A method based on delivery of the tightly regulated rhamnose-inducible promoter [P.sub.rhaB] for identifying essential genes and operons in Burkholderia cenocepacia is presented. The different level of gene expression could be achieved by using two vectors that deliver [P.sub.rhaB] at two different distances from the site of insertion.

Occurrence and expression of luminescence in Vibrio cholerae

Article Abstract:

A new method is developed that has allowed a more sensitive assay for expression of luminescence in Vibrio cholerae. Luminescence expression patterns of Vibrio cholerae are examined, isolates are grouped based on expression level and many strains with defective expression of the lux operon are identified.
