Analyses of livestock production, waste storage, and pathogen levels and prevalences in farm manures

Article Abstract:

The framing practices encountered on British farms between 2000 and 2003 are summarized and the results of statistical analysis that have revealed correlations between on-farm practices and the prevalence's or levels of zoonotic agents are reported. A number of correlations identified could be used as a best-practice livestock waste disposal document for farmers, thereby lowering the microbial risks associated with applying manures of contaminated livestock to land.

Electricity production by Geobacter sulfurreducens attached to electrodes

Article Abstract:

This article describes the microbial electricity production by microbial fuel cells attached to an electrode. Research indicates that Geobacter sulfurreducens enhance the effectiveness of microbial fuel cells by attaching to electrodes and oxidizing organic substrates with transfer of electrons to an electrode quantitatively.

Development of a selective medium for isolation of Helicobacter pylori from cattle and beef samples

Article Abstract:

Research describes a highly selective medium containing combination of various antibiotics for isolating Helicobacter pylori from animal and food sources. Data point out that the medium is useful in the isolation of the bacteria from human and environmental samples as well.
