Anaerobic naphthalene degradation by a sulfate-reducing enrichment culture
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the anaerobic naphthalene degradation. The use of the substrate utilization tests and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in studying this degradation is discussed.

Anaerobic degradation of 2-methylnaphthalene by a sulfate-reducing enrichment culture
Article Abstract:
The products of the anaerobic degradation of 2-methylnaphthalene by a sulfate-reducing culture are described. Many of the products are the same ones produced under anaerobic toluene and naphthalene degradation.

Anaerobic cometabolic conversion of benzothiophene by a sulfate-reducing enrichment culture and in a tar-oil-contaminated aquifer
Article Abstract:
Sulfate-reducing bacteria in tar-oil-contaminated aquifers appear to use the same enzyme system to degrade benzothiophene as they use to degrade naphthalene. This was confirmed in culture supernatants.
