An aminoacylation-dependent nuclear tRNA export pathway in yeast

Article Abstract:

a yeast aminoacylation-dependent nuclear tRNA export pathway is discussed. A suppressor screen of a synthetically lethal los1 mutant has been carried out to find factors than disruption of LOS1 that help in tRNA export. Also the essential translation elongation factor eEF-1A was identified. It was found that tRNA aminoacylation and eEF-1A are needed for efficient nuclear tRNA export in yeast. It appears that coordination of the protein translation and the nuclear tRNA processing and transport mechanisms exists.

Nitric oxide synthase is induced in sporulation of Physarum polycephalum

Article Abstract:

Nitric oxide (NO) synthase has been found to be induced in Physarum polycephalum sporulation. P. polycephalum expresses a calcium-independent NO synthase like the inducible NO synthase (NOS) isoenzyme in mammals. It has been cloned and sequnced and is the first nonanimal NOS identified. Less than 39% of its amino acids are identical to those of known NOSs. The second messenger used for NO siglnaling in sporulation is cGMP. It links the signaling pathway to expression of lig1.

Multiple roles for the yeast SUB2/yUAP56 gene in splicing

Article Abstract:

The yeast SUB2/yUAP56 gene roles in splicing are discussed in this research communication. The Schizosaccharomyces pombe ortholog of the UAP56 gene by heterologous complementation of a combined PRP40HA(sub.3)/nam 8(Delta) defect in budding yeast has been isolated. It was found that SUB2 participates in splicing in vivo and in vitro. U2snRNP likely has a role in events before prespiceosome formation.
