Article Abstract:
It has been established that there is a homeotic mutation in the parasitic wasp Nasonia vitripennis that makes the distal portions of the adult antennae become leg segments. This mutation has similarities with Antennapedia and spineless-aristapedia mutations in Drosophila, but it has not yet been possible to identify its genetic homologies. Fine-scale mapping and cloning of the distantennapedia gene may give molecular access to homeotic gene complexes in Nasonia.

Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to genetically characterize a black abdomen mutant in Microplitits croceipes, or parasitic wasp. The color trait is to be used as a genetic marker for insects used as parasitoids of predators for major pests. Results showed that the abdominal color trait is regulated by a semidominant gene. Results also indicated the presence of a second gene locus that also affects color disposition.

Article Abstract:
Data is presented consistent with the idea that the ichneumonid parasitoid wasp Diadegma chrysostictos (Gmelin) possesses single-locus complementary sex determination (sl-CSD). Studies used alloenzyme and genetic markers, and is further supported by flow cytometric discrimination between haploids and diploids.
