Article Abstract:
A study analyzed chromosome preparations from a cat fibrosarcoma, in comparison with nontumor cells (epithelial tissue) from the same individual, with in situ hybridization of the feline satellite DNA (FA-SAT) cat satellite DNA family. The amplification of these satellite DNA sequences in the cat chromosomes with variable number and appearance is discussed and might be related to mitotic instability, explaining the exhibition of complex patterns of chromosome aberrations detected in the fibrosarcoma analyzed.

Article Abstract:
A present-day rabies epizootic in the eastern US has been attributed primarily to a well-adapted rabies virus variant introduced to a raccoon population during the 1970s. The article presents predictive models of rabies spread, and links emergence patterns to host specificity, genetic heterogeneity, and local environmental variables.
