Altered localization of Drosophila Smoothened protein activates Hedgehog signal transduction

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Hedgehog signaling which is critical for many developmental events. The authors demonstrate that Drosophila salinary gland cells are responsive to Hedgehog signaling and have been used to study the regulation of the intracellular movements of Smoothened protein occurring in response to Hedgehog signaling.

Retraction of the Drosophila germ band requires cell-matrix interaction

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on cell-matrix interactions in invertebrates and vertebrates. The authors report that germ-band retraction in Drosophila embryo leads to the study of cell spreading and lamellipoda formation.

A Serrate-expressing signaling center controls Drosophila hematopoiesis

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Notch signaling. The authors demonstrate that localized Notch signaling causes early distinction between the crystal cell and plasmatocyte cell.
