Article Abstract:
The allelic variation and molecular evolution of the choline-binding protein LytB in clinical isolates identified as typical and atypical pneumococci, as well as the organization of the lytB gene of the type strain of Streptococcus mitis are investigated. The results have shown that the main difference among the LytB alleles involves the number of repeats of the choline-binding proteins (ChBD).

Article Abstract:
A cDNA coding for bovine pepsin is assembled by fusing the cDNA fragments from two different bovine expressed sequence tag libraries to synthetic DNA sequence based on the previously described N-terminal sequence of pepsinogen. One advantage of the recombinant enzyme for food applications is that there is no risk of transmission of bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

Article Abstract:
The thermophilic properties of the choline-binding tag (ChB tag) is used by fusing it to the pyrophosphatase (Pyr) from Thermus thermophilus in order to facilitate its purification and immobilization. This fusion has revealed novel and interesting biotechnological applications for a thermostable tag.
