Article Abstract:
Studies dealing with the relationship between oxidative stress and aging in different vertebrate species and in caloric-restricted rodents are discussed. It is suggested that a low rate of mitochondrial reactive produce species (ROS) generation extends lifespan both in long-lived and in caloric-restricted animals by determining the rate of oxidative attack and accumulation of somatic mutations in mitochondrial DNA.

Article Abstract:
Research suggests that a deep phylogenetic split between lissamphibian- and amniote-related groups of tetrapods. Data indicate that Lower Carboniferous early tetrapods branch from the tetrapod stem. Furthermore, the branching pattern of the stem-group amniotes shows a coherent set of internested changes related to terrestrial habits in several Permo-Cambrian forms.

Article Abstract:
The recent advance in molecular understanding of the mechanism that ensures normal development of 'correct' situs is reviewed. The possible relationships between the vertebrate directional asymmetries and those that occur sporadically among proteasome bilaterian forms are discussed.
