Age at menarche and age of onset of pubertal characteristics in 6-14-year-old girls from the province of L'Aquila [Abruzzo, Italy]

Article Abstract:

A study on growth models of children from the Province of L'Aquila analysis the phases of pubertal breast development [BD] in 397 girls, pubic hair development [PHD] in 399 girls, and menarche in 583 girls from 6-14 years old is discussed. The evidence shows that the mean age at menarche is 12.55 years, which is in general agreement with other values, found in Italy and a secular trend is still in progress in this region.

The association between pubertal status and sleep duration and quality among a nationally representative sample of US adolescents

Article Abstract:

The association between sleep and adolescent growth and developmental stage is examined in a large sample of adolescents ages 12-16 years from a nationally representative longitudinal study. The results, which are based on a large sample size, guarantee further examination with more objective measures into the association between sleep and growth and development among adolescents.

Age of pubertal onset affects the intensity and duration of pubertal growth peak but not final height

Article Abstract:

This article examines the affects of the rhythm of maturation on the duration and intensity of height growth during puberty among both girls and boys, using longitudinal clinical follow-ups. Results found that late maturers were taller than early ones during puberty, but final height depending on age of onset did not differ in either sex.
