Article Abstract:
Continuous cultures of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 9027) maintained at different dissolved oxygen concentrations (DO) were studied for the effects of DO on various culture properties, especially aerobic respiration and denitrification. The Do was varied from 0 mg/liter to 1.3 mg/liter and measured with optical sensors that could accurately determine very low DO based on oxygen-quenched luminescence.

Article Abstract:
The Pseudomonas aeruginosa genes, called the gny cluster for the isopreniod metabolite geranoyl-coenzyme A (CoA), that encode the enzymes involved in the lower pathway of acyclic isoprenoid degradation are identified and suggests that the alpha-geranoyl-CoA carboxylase subunit is encoded by the gnyA gene. It is shown that the gnyRDBHAL cluster is involved in isoprenoid catabolism.

Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to show that EDTA has a detrimental effect on the outer membrane permeability of free-living planktonic Proteobacteria. The result suggests that the activity of EDTA against biofilm cells is mediated by chelation of several divalent cations that are required to stabilize the biofilm matrix.
