Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that the cell surface of liquid grown Staphylococcus epidermidis is soft but solid agar grown cells exhibit even softer cell surfaces. The fixed charge distribution on the outer cell surface show less significant variation between the cells grown on liquid versus solid media.

Article Abstract:
The effect of ionic strength on the co-adhesion of Streptococcus oralis 34 to either Actinomyces naeslundii T14V-J1 or its mutant strain 5951 adhering to glass in a parallel-plate flow chamber, was investigated. It was also determined whether substratum hydrophobicity influenced the co-adhesion between the organisms by permitting the sessile organisms to adhere either to hydrophilic or to hydrophobic, dimethyldichlorosilane-coated glass. Findings indicated that the kinetics of co-adhesion of S. oralis 34 to the actinomyces decreased when the ionic strength increased.

Article Abstract:
Research shows that the adhesion of organism Pseudomonas aeruginosa AK1 to silicone rubber in a parallel plate flow chamber with nutrient broth is associated with an increase in negative zeta potential. The deposition rate of P. aeruginosa AK1 to silicon rubber increased by 0.0269 centimeters per second in the presence phosphate-buffered saline with 2% nutrient broth.
