Article Abstract:
A study of newborns in the lowlands and highlands of continental Italy confirmed the influence of environmental conditions on the association between adenosine deaminase (ADA) and acid phosphatase (ACP1). An interaction has been found among ACP1-ADA genotype, locality, and season of conception.

Article Abstract:
The phosphoglucomutase locus 1 (PGM1) genetic polymorphism has been studied in a sample of newborns and mothers from Penne and Rome, Italy, as well as a sample of women with repeated spontaneous abortions and their husbands from the population of Rome. Results support the hypothesis of PGM1 selection during intrauterine development.

Article Abstract:
This article examines the possiblity of the selection on phosphoglucomutase locus 1 (PGM1) during intrauterine life for deviations of the maternal-neonatal joint PGM1 and that maternal and paternal PGM1 alleles could have different associations with survival. Results show a significant relation between mother-newborn PGM1 genotype and birth weight percentile class; also, paternal PGM1*2 had negative affects with macrosomia in female infants.
