Adaptation of the nisin-controlled expression system in Lactobacillus plantarum: a tool to study in vivo biological effects

Article Abstract:

Research describes the construction of an expression system, containing a reporter protein or a model antigen marker, in Lactobacillus plantarum, using nisin-controlled expression system from Lctococcus lactis for monitoring dose-response activity of therapeutic molecules. Data indicate that expression system containing the C subunit of tetanus toxin is a useful tool.

Improved adaptation Results to cold-shock, stationary-phase, and freezing stresses in Lactobacillus plantarum overproducing cold-shock proteins

Article Abstract:

Research shows that overproduction of three cold shock proteins in Lactobacillus plantarum NC8 facilitates the growth of bacteria at 8 C, stationary-phase culture bacteria, and survival of cells in freezing. Data indicate that the proteins are involved in cold adaptation.

Use of green fluorescent protein to tag lactic acid bacterium strains under development as live vaccine vectors

Article Abstract:

A gene from jellyfish that produces a green fluorescent protein can be inserted into the genome of Lactobacillus to determine its fate in the body. Researchers hope to use the bacterium to deliver vaccines, since the bacterium is known to be safe in humans.
