Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the depletion of calcium anion stores in Xenopus oocytes that are activated by the entry of calcium anions across the plasma membrane. The results, which include the inhibition of the reaction by the expression of constitutively active or wild-type Rho, indicate that oocyte current Isoc is dependent on SNAP-25 and not on aqueous diffusible messengers. The probable mechanism for the activation is theorized to be the exocytosis of membrane channels or regulatory molecules.

Article Abstract:
A study on the regulation of the human MTK1 MAPKKK was conducted to determine the mechanism involved in the activation of the p38 and JNK pathways during environmental stress. The study focused on MTK1 because it has been identified as an stress-induced activator of the p38 and JNK MAPks. Results show that GADD45-like proteins transmit activation of the p38/JNK pathway through MTK1/MEKK4 in reaction to environmental stresses.

The nuclear export signal (residues 35-49), fused or conjugated to heterologous proteins is found to be useful for rapid export of proteins from the nucleus. The heat-stable inhibitor of cAMP-dependent protein kinase (cAPK) contains a nuclear export signal that cause rapid, active net extrusion of the C-PKI complex from the nucleus. A sequence containing only residues 37-46, LALKLAGLDI is also sufficient for nuclear export.
