Article Abstract:
Yeast capping enzymes have been found to cross-link in vivo to the 5' ends of transcribed genes, as discussed in this research communication. The localization requires the C-terminal heptad repeat domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II (pol II). CTD phosphorylation and dephosphorylation control the association of capping enzymes with pol II as it transcribes a gene.

Article Abstract:
The role of SIRT7, one of the seven members of the mammalian sirtuin family is investigated, and is shown that SIRT7 is a widely expressed nuclear protein that is associated with active rRNA genes (rDNA), where it interacts with RNA polymerase I as well as with histones. Findings suggest that SIRT7 is a positive regulator of Pol I transcription and is required for cell viability in mammals.

Article Abstract:
The multisubunit holoenzyme complex of RNA polymerase II (Pol II) and its mediator may be necessary for transcription in budding yeast. This has been investigated. It was found that the Pol II holoenzyme is not required for all upstream-activating sequence (UAS)-dependent activated transcription in yeast.
