Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the effects of food on the survival of acid-sensitive pathogens under acidic environments. Concerns related to the ineffective dose of Salmonella species were also examined. A genetically engineered acid-sensitive rpoS deletion mutant of Shigella flexineri was utilized as an acid-sensitive control. Results indicated that Salmonella was protected from killing when inoculated onto a food source supporting high protein and low fat levels.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the polymerase chain detection (PCR) detection of the watermark disease pathogen in the vascular fluid of willows. Decimal Brenneria salicis suspension dilutions were determined in phosphate-buffered saline to obtain the sensitivity of PCR detection. Vascular fluid was then utilized to evaluate the efficiency of PCR in plant material. Moreover, dilutions were used for PCR and placed on a GYCA medium.

Article Abstract:
The presence of Zn2+ appears to have a strong influence on the production of exoprotease by the pathogenic bacteria Burkholderia pseudomallei. In defined media, production of the toxic enzyme was not detected in the absence of ZnCl2. CaCl2 also appeared to promote exoprotease production, although its effect was not as great as that of ZnCl2. Exoprotease activity was not dependent on the presence of FeSO4, NaCl, or MgSO4.
