Article Abstract:
The lysine 56 in histone H3 is reported as a novel acetylating site that is located in the globular domain, where it extends toward the DNA major groove at the entry-exit points of the DNA superhelix as it wraps around the nucleosome. It is indicated that histone H3 K56 acetylating at the entry-exit gate enables recruitment of the SWI/SNF nucleosome remodeling complex and so regulates gene activity.

Article Abstract:
Nicotinamide riboside kinases (Nrk) from yeast and humans were identified and found to be highly specific for phosphorylation of nicotinamide riboside and the cancer drug tiazofurin. Nicotinamide riboside, which was discovered as a nutrient in milk suggested that nicotinamide riboside, is a useful compound for elevation of NAD (super +) levels in humans.

Article Abstract:
A study demonstrates how the yeast Ras uses the ER as a signaling platform from which to negatively regulate the GPI-GnT. The results suggest that diminished GPI-anchor protein production contributes to hyperactive Ras phenotypes.
