Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on transcriptional coactivator CREB-binding protein which is involved in the pathogenesis of polygmutamine expansion neurodegenerative disease. The authors describe the use of Drosophila model in demonstrating that polygmutamine-induced neurodegeneration is caused by a defect in histone acetylation and transcription profile alteration.

Starvation and oxidative stress resistance in Drosophila are mediated through the eIF4E-binding protein, d4E-BP

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to show that the activity of Drosophila 4E-BP(d4E-BP) becomes critical for survival under dietary restriction and oxidative stress, and is linked to life. The research reveals that ectopic expression of d4E-BP in Drosophila forkhead transcription factor (dFOXO) - null flies restores oxidative stress resistance to control levels.

Research has been conducted on Drosophila E2F/RB pathway. The authors demonstrate that the activities of the pathway's components are integrated at the target gene promoters, and reveal the unexpected aspect of E2F/RB regulation.
