ASPP2 is a haploinsuffcient tumor suppressor that cooperates with p53 to suppress tumor growth

Article Abstract:

ASPP2, assumed to be a haploinsufficient tumor suppressor, binds the apoptotic function of the p53 family in vivo and it is shown that ASPP[2.sup.(-/-)] pups dies before weaning and ASPP[2.sup.+/-] mice developed spontaneous tumors. A molecular explanation is provided by the ability of ASPP2 to cooperate with p53 to suppress tumor growth, as to why the frequency to down-regulate ASPP2 expression tends to be higher in tumor cells expressing wild-type than mutant p53.

A mechanism of AP-1 suppression through interaction of c-Fos with lamin A/C

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to show that the intermediate filament protein lamin A/C suppresses AP-1 function through direct interaction with c-Fos, and that both proteins could interact and colocalize at the nuclear envelope (NE) in mammalian cells. The results indicated that lamin A/C-mediated c-Fos sequestration at the NE as a novel mechanism of transcriptional and cell cycle control.

A study demonstrates that FoxO transcription factors intervene Myc-induced Arf expression and provide direct genetic evidence for their tumor-suppressive capacity. FoxO factors play an important role in cell cycle control and cellular stress response.
