A yeast platform for the production of single-chain antibody-green fluorescent protein fusions

Article Abstract:

A yeast expression platform is created that would allow rapid production of fusions of green fluorescent protein (GFP) and single-chain antibodies (scFv) or their highly homogenous single-chain T-cell receptor (scTCR) counterparts by employing the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to produce GFP fusion proteins from a total of nine different scFv/scTCR classes. Results show that yeast can be used as an effective host for the secretion of scFv/scTCR-GFP fusion proteins.

Seasonal change in bacterial flora and biomass in mountain snow from the Tateyama Mountains, Japan, analyzed by 165 rRNA gene sequencing and real-time PCR

Article Abstract:

The bacterial flora and biomass in mountain snow from the Tateyama Mountains, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, one of the heaviest snowfall regions in the world were analyzed by amplifying ribosomal DNA restriction analysis followed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and DNA quantification by real-time PCR. The differences in development observed among these bacterial species suggest that their growth was promoted by different nutrients and environmental condition in the snow.

Enhancement of biodesulfurization in two-liquid systems by heterogeneous expression of Vitreoscilla hemoglobin

Article Abstract:

The vgb gene, encoding Vitreoscilla hemoglobin (VHb), is introduced into a specific desulfurization bacterium, Rhodococcus erythropolis LSSE8-1, where the VHb-specific spectrum is seen for the recombinant. It is shown that the strain bearing vgb displayed a higher biomass yield and desulfurizing activity when compared to the wild type.
