A vicious cycle: RNA silencing and DNA methylation in plants

Article Abstract:

This review examines DNA methylation in plants and its bearing on the plant RNA silencing. Data suggest that a RNA-directed DNA methylation is operating in plants via plant transgene RNA silencing systems. Implication of DNA methylation as a defence against RNA viruses is discussed.

How do you see CG?

Article Abstract:

This review addresses a specialized immune mechanism operating in mammalian systems in which the unmethylated CG motifs in the DNA activate macrophages, dendritic cells, and B lymphocytes leading to the stimulation of defence mechanism.
