A survey of heterobasidiomycetous yeasts for the presence of the genes homologous to virulence factors of Filobasidiella neoformans, CNLAC1 and CAP59
Article Abstract:
Research reveals that Filobasidiella neoformans is an unique heterobasidiomycetous yeast possessing virulence genes that cause fatal infections in immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients alike. Data indicate that the virulence gene CAP59 is unique to the fungus whereas only its serotypes B/C exhibit the gene CNLAC, which codes for laccase.

Heterogeneous distribution of lysine 6-aminotransferase during cephamycin C biosynthesis in Streptomyces clavuligerus demonstrated using green fluorescent protein as a reporter
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the biosynthesis of cephamycin C in Streptomyces clavuligerus is mediated by the lysine 6-aminotransferease enzyme and is temporally and spatially distributed during its growth. Green fluorescent protein as a reporter for the quantitation of cephamycin is presented.

Nicotinoprotein (NADH-containing) alcohol dehydrogenase from Rhodococcus erythropolis DSM 1069: an efficient catalyst for coenzyme-independent oxidation of a broad spectrum of alcohols and the interconversion of alcohols and aldehydes
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that nicotinoprotein alcohol dehydrogenase is involved in the alcohol-oxidizing reaction in the bacterium and possibly also in the interconversiton of alcohols and aldehydes. Data indicate that the enzyme occurrs in other actinomycetes bacteria as well.
