Article Abstract:
Six specimens of Aleutian Terns (Sterna aleutica) were collected near the Mindanao Sea in the Philippines. These six specimens are significant because they are the only specimens of this species which were obtained at significant distances from nesting areas, thus providing information on ranges of nonbreeding members of the species. Examination of the plumage provides molt data on a number of the specimens. Young Aleutian Terns differ from the adults in a number of ways. This species maintains relatively small populations, resulting in the few information on the species.

Article Abstract:
The first quantitative evaluation of Kirtland's warblers' habitat use and winter distribution, using winter reports of 194 Kirtland's warblers from the Bahamas accumulated from 1841-1997, is presented. Eighty-eight percent of individual Kirtland's warblers were reported in the northern islands, while island groups that support or used to support open woodlands of Caribbean pine accounted for 84% of sight reports and 76% of specimen/banding records. Sixty percent of habitat descriptions specifically cited pines or pine understory.
