Article Abstract:
Several studies on yeast and human genetic disorders have led to the discovery of an RNA surveillance mechanism called nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). Findings from these studies suggested that most of the available evidence can be merged into a common NMD model called the posttermination surveillance model, which characterizes NMD as a control mechanism for perfect messages in eukaryotic cells. However, further studies are required to confirm the feasibility of the model, particularly with regards to mammalian cells.

Article Abstract:
A study of iron biology focusing on physiology and homeostatis to understand how cells and organisms regulate their iron content and orchestrate iron allocation, and how dysregulated iron homeostatis leads to common hematological, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases is presented. The fact that this study provides novel insights into gene regulation and links to the immune system is outlined.
