A pathway for association of receptors, adaptors, and actin during endocytic internalization

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that distinct patch-related endocytic functions are involved in the process of endocytic internalization. In budding yeast, these include adaptors and actin cytoskeletal proeins are localized to cortical patches with different protein composition. Results suggest that actin polymerization is required both for endocytic intenalization and for patch assembly.

Transgenic expression of syndecan-1 uncoveres a physiological control of feeding behavior by syndecan-3

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the transgenic expression in the syndecan-1 hypothalamus producing mice with hyperphagia and maturity-onset obesity. The hypothesis that the oscillation of the hypothalamic syndecan-3 levels physiologically modulates feeding behavior has been tested and the results are reported.

Metastatic potential: generic predisposition of the primary tumor or rare, metastatic variants- or both?

Article Abstract:

The author reviews the publications on metastasis. The topics of interest include the analysis of the hypotheses that metastasis is caused by highly metastatic cells and that a primary tumor progresses to a premalignant state inducing metastasis without further changes in gene expression.
