A novel lux operon in the cryptically bioluminescent fish pathogen Vibrio salmonicide is associated with virulence

Article Abstract:

Two tests are conducted for explaining the cryptic bioluminescence phenotype through molecular characterization of the lux operon and its bioluminescence gene cluster associated with virulence. It is seen that the cold-water-fish pathogen, Vibrio salmonicide, produces insufficient levels of its aliphatic-aldehyde that are detectably luminous in culture.

Evaluation of postharvest-processed oysters by using PCR-based most-probable-number enumeration of Vibrio vulnificus bacteria

Article Abstract:

Quantitative PCR is analyzed as a rapid confirmation method for most-probable-number enumeration (QPCR-MPN) of Vibrio vulnificus bacteria in postharvesting processing (PHP) oysters. QPCR-MPN has displayed very good correlation with standard MPN and has enhanced assay sensitivity and efficiency.

Genomic and biochemical studies demonstrating the absence of an alkane-producing phenotype in Vibrio furnissi M1

Article Abstract:

The alkane-producing phenotype of Vibrio furnissii M1 was analyzed by using genomic analysis and biochemical studies. The results have shown that alkane-producing genes were not identified and alkane biosynthesis was not demonstrated in vivo or in vitro.
