A noncoding melanophilin gene (MLPH) SNP at the splice donor of exon I represents a candidate causal mutation for coat color dilution in dogs

Article Abstract:

The resequencing of 5'-region of the canine melanophilin gene to identify a strong candidate single nucleotide polymorphism within the nontranslated exon 1 is presented. It showed perfect association to the dilute phenotype in 65 dilute dogs from 7 different breeds.

The genetics of cream coat color in dogs

Article Abstract:

The studies about Tyrosinase (TYR) and solute carrier family 45, member 2 (SLC45A2) in the dog as candidate genes for cream coat color in some breeds of dogs in which dogs of e/e genotype at MC1R varied in shade of phacomelanin pigmentation are presented.

Chromosomal Assignment of the Canine Melanophilin Gene (MLPH): A Candidate Gene for Coat Color Dilution in Pinschers

Article Abstract:

BAC clones were isolated containing the ortholog of Mlph murine color dilution gene, and RH mapping was performed using a BAC sequence-derived STS marker. The canine MLPH gene was then assigned to CFA25q24.
