Article Abstract:
The ermF region of the Bacteroides conjugative transposon CTnDOT is a chimera composed of a class I composite transposon and a mobilizable transposon. A study of 19 Bacteroides isolates found that ermF region is in the same location on the genose, and the composition of ermF is identical. This indicates that it was probably derived from a common ancestor.

Article Abstract:
Phylogenetic analysis indicates that tetracycline resistance gene, tet(36), is present in Cytophaga-Flavobacter-Bacteroides group and in gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative proteobacteria. Data suggest a horizontal transfer of the gene between these diverse phylogenetic groups.

Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on antibiotic resistance genes in human colonic Bacteroides strains. The authors demonstrate that the ermG gene is carried on the integrated conjugative transposon CTn which differes from CTnERL and CTnDOT and may have entered Bactroides species after the CTnERL- and CTnDOT-type elements, and that the gram-positive bacteria could have been the origin of conjugative transposon CTnGERM1 whic seems to be the part of CTn family.
