Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the isolation and characterization of a neutral trehalase gene, NTC1, from the human pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. The findings indicate intermediate activities between extracts from the wild-type strain and from the homozygous mutants. There was also no significant differences in pathogenicity between the null mutant and the wild-type strain. Thus, the neutral trehalase of C albicans is not one of the potential targets for antifungal drugs.

Article Abstract:
Research reveals that pathogenicity of Candida albicans is controlled by the gene coding for phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase as shown by its full restoration in a null mutant devoid of the enzyme. Data indicate that the null mutant can not form hyphae, sensitive to temperature and osmotic stress, and exhibit decreased cell adhesion.

Article Abstract:
Results reveal that the flagella of Vibrio cholerae do not act as mechanosensors, voltmeters or signal transducers for environmental stimuli and as such have no impact on virulence gene expression or regulation.
