A method for identification of the expression mode and mapping of QTL underlying embryo-specific characters

Article Abstract:

A statistical method was proposed for the identification of expression mode and mapping of quantitative trait loci (QTL) controlling embryo traits. Statistical power and other properties of the proposed method were investigated under a variety of scenarios through simulation studies. Results showed that the mapping method neglecting the effects of embryo genotype or maternal effects could neither identify the expression mode of QTL nor estimate its genetic effects accurately, whereas the proposed method could effectively map the embryo-specific QTL of various modes.

Phytochrome Evolution in Green and Nongreen Plants

Article Abstract:

A link between gene function change and molecular adaptation is researched in the phytochrome photoreceptor system in flowering plants, parasitic plants, and in Orobanchaceae. Further lines of investigation regarding divergence points in downstream genetic signaling pathways are determined.
