A method adapting microarray technology for signature-tagged mutagenesis of Desulfovibrio desulfurians G20 and Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 in anaerobic sediment survival experiments
Article Abstract:
A new screening system is developed using Desulfovibrio desulfurians G20 and Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 organisms to identify genes that are critical for sediment survival. The system might be applicable to the study of numerous environmental bacteria, allowing identifying functions and roles of survival genes in various habitats.

Genes that enhance the ecological fitness of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 in sediments reveal the value of antibiotic resistance
Article Abstract:
In situ-based signature-tagged mutagenesis (STM) is used to identify genes required for sediment fitness of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1. The importance of mexF for sediment fitness has indicated that antibiotic efflux is a process that is necessary for bacteria living in sediment systems.

Differential expression of Desulfovibrio vulgaris genes in response to Cu(II) and Hg(II) toxicity
Article Abstract:
The response of Desulfovibrio vulgaris to Cu(II) and Hg(II) is characterized. A study to identify genes involved in metal resistance is presented.
