A highly polymorphic degenerate microsatellite for molecular strain typing of Candida krusei
Article Abstract:
Research reveals that the sequence repeat CKTNR of the pathogenic fungus Candida krusei is highly heterogeneous in terms of sequence composition and length. Data show that CKTNR also exhibits polymorphism in that its alleles are trinucleotide repeats and reproduce clonally.

A diffusible analogue of N(super.3)-(4-methoxyfumaroyl)-L-2,3-diaminopropanoic acid with antifungal activity
Article Abstract:
A diffusible analogue of N(super.3)-(4-methoxyfumaroyl)-L-2,3-diaminopropanoic acid has been found to have antifungal activity. It was found that the pro-drug approach can be used for enhancing antifungal activity of glutamine analogues that inhibit GlcN060P synthase.

Analysis of the wee gene cluster responsible for the biosynthesis of the polymeric bioemulsifier from the oil-degrading strain Acinetobacter lwoffii RAG-1
Article Abstract:
The 27-kb wee gene cluster responsible for biosynthesis of the polymeric bioemulsifier of the oil-degrading strain Acinetobacter lwoffii RAG-1 has been analyzed. It was found that the bioemulsifier may be a member of group 1 polysaccharides, or of group 4.
