A concise peer into the background, initial thoughts and practices of human gene therapy

Article Abstract:

Gene therapy rose rapidly as an intellectual by-product of fundamental discoveries in molecular biology and evolved as a new branch of experimental medicine along with technological advances in genetic manipulation. It is concluded that further improvements in gene transfer technologies and deeper insight in host-vector interactions are guaranteed before clinical gene therapy reaches maturity.

Is ectopic expression caused by deregulatory mutations or due to gene-regulation leaks with evolutionary potential?

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted in which evidence for ectopic expression and the hypotheses proposed for its origin and evolution is presented. The result shows that ectopic expression might represent a leak in the evolution of regulatory systems, but one that is endowed with considerable evolutionary possibilities.

A cluster translocation model may explain the collinearity of Hox gene expressions

Article Abstract:

The hypothesis of a cluster translocation model reflecting the collinearity of Hox genes is discussed. The model explains how gene activation is triggered and the different collinearities at the initial stages of gene expression.
