Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of mist netting and point counting as methods of surveying bird communities in tropical forest habitats is poorly known. A new study compares data from mist netting and point counting at the same survey point in a forest in Belize to assess which is better suited as a survey tool. It is shown that point counting is a more accurate and time effective technique for describing bird communities than mist netting.
