Article Abstract:
A combined dynamic model for Brochothric thermosphacta growth and thermal inactivation has been developed. The model is based on the approach presented by Baranyi and Roberts (1994) and Baranyi et al (1995). The model includes new mathematica features which hurdled the inherent problems associated with combining separate growth and death models. It accurately predicted growth and inactivation during heat at rising temperatures and can be applied to other food-borne organisms.

Article Abstract:
The effect of Mg(super 2+) levels in Sphingomonas yanoikuyae EC-S001 on the cell growth restoration in the host plant and the threshold level are determined. The analysis showed that Mg(super 2+) is more than just the essential trance element needed for cell growth restoration in S. yanoikuyae EC-S001 and that some nonculturable bacteria requires a higher concentration of Mg(super 2+) or another specific essential element for their growth.

Article Abstract:
A unique method to observe large numbers of individual bacterial cells during long periods of cell growth and proliferation is described. This method enables one to study the history effect on the distribution of the lag times of single cells.
