A Lactobacillius acidophilus strain of human gastrointestinal microbiota origin elicits killing of enterovirulent Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium by triggering lethal bacterial memberane damage

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the mechanism by which Lactobacillus acidophilus strain of human microbiota origin antagonizes the gram-negativeentroinvasive pathogen Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium. The cell-free culture supernatant of Lactobacillus acidophilus strain LB (LB-CFCS) induced number of effects in Salmonella enterica SL1344, which included a decrease in intracellular ATP that parallel bacteria death.

Effects of cattle feeding regimen and soil management type on the fate of Escherichia coli O157: H7 and Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium in manure, manure-amended soil, and lettuce

Article Abstract:

The survival of the green flourescent protein-transformed human pathogens Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Salomonella enterica serovar Typhimurium was studied in a laboratory-simulated lettuce production chain. The results indicate that cattle diet and soil management are important factors with respect to the survival of human pathogens in the environment.

Metabolite profiles of lactic acid bacteria in grass silage

Article Abstract:

The article investigates the production and the profiles of metabolite of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in the grass silage. The results show that the growth of LAB strains in grass silage helps in promoting the production of other antifungal substances.
