A KSR/CNK complex mediated by HYP, a novel SAM domain-containing protein, regulates RAS-dependent RAF activation in Drosophila

Article Abstract:

The scaffold kinase suppressor of RAS (KSR), a RAF homolog known to assemble RAF/MEK/ERK complexes, induces RAF activation in Drosophila by a mechanism mediated by its kinase-like domain, but which is independent of its scaffolding property or putative kinase activity. It is found that KSR is recruited to RAF prior to signal activation by the RAF-binding protein connector enhancer of KSR (CNK) in association with a nocal (SAM) sterile alpha motif domain-containing protein, named Hyphen (HYP).

Global analysis of positive and negative pre-mRNA splicing regulators in Drosophila

Article Abstract:

A microarray was developed to assay all annotated alternative splicing events in Drosophila melanogaster and the alternative splice events controlled by four splicing regulators, dASF/SF2, B52/SRp55, hrp48, and PSI were identified. The number of events controlled by each of these factors except PSI was found to be highly variable.

Dicer-1 and R3D1-L catalyze microRNA maturation in Drosophila

Article Abstract:

A novel dsRNA-binding protein, which is named R3D2-L, which forms a stable complex with Dicer-1 in vitro and vivo is identified. R3D1-L functions in concert with Dicer-1 in miRNA biogenesis and is required for reproductive development in Drosophila.
