Article Abstract:
Twenty-five years ago, on June 5, 1981 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report heralded the emergence of HIV and AIDS. More than 25 million people have died from AIDS globally, but scientists were able to identify the virus with its mode of transmission, anti-retroviral drugs being discovered to combat the disease, yet clinical trials are on to test new methods of preventing infection and the search is on for a vaccine for HIV/AIDS.
