'Social auditing'; the KPMG UK experience

Article Abstract:

Corporations around the world and in the United Kingdom have been moving away from traditional financial reporting to social auditing, in addition, due to pressures from regulators, consumer groups, and others. A social auditing team has been established in London, England by the accounting firm of KPMG which validates social data, management systems and processes, and the response of society to social auditing. The role of social auditing in in the United Kingdom, Australia, and worldwide is expected to rise in the future.

Harmonisation and China: problems aplenty

Article Abstract:

The accounting standards of China are not comparable to international accounting standards followed by many western nations. Different economic, political, cultural and social systems operate in China. Economic reforms in China during the first 10 years of the 21st century and an understanding of the differences in China could increase foreign investments in the region.
